So, my fiance thinks our blender is from 1998. I came to the relationship with a fancy kitchenade which broke after I froze the rubber blender parts to make a margarita and the metal base shredded the rubber frozen parts (my stupid expensive drunk mistake). We've been drinking a lot of smoothies lately and I was hoping to upgrade to a Vitamix eventually, which according to my mother and others it the absolute pinnacle of powerhouse blenders. However, I have a new personal green 'environmentally conscious' policy to not get rid of appliances unless they are totally broken and cannot be fixed.I was so happy when our Oster blender carafe finally started cracking - I was embarrassingly happy when glass ended up in our smoothies (no worries, we didn't drink them). Much to my dismay for shiny new fancy things, but good for my wallet, we have discovered that the Oster is a beast, and replacements mean it will likely last another decade. Maybe when I'm entered into a retirement community I can finally get a new blender. Our circa ~1998 Oster blender is a buy it for life machine. It is unbreakable and unbeatable. It will outlast all humanity.I purposely had the original Jar all washed & ready-to-go to blend the "old" and probably frozen/separated Cascade dishwasher detergent (also sitting on the (HARD) counter). Its "Feeder Cap" makes the entire put-together blender too tall for storage on the counter under our wall cabinets. Since my husband wears hearing aids that don't help his admitted SELECTIVE hearing, he didn't believe there was any problem with the (obvious-to-me) chunky condition of the detergent. The very clean and UN-cluttered counter with only those items on it were an invitation to him to put a big cardboard box of spices & other foodstuffs on that counter to be unloaded into the wall cabinets WITHOUT FIRST moving the blender base, Jar & Cascade out of the way. Apparently this wife needs to be as vigilant with a senior citizen male as with little children - "child-proofing" everything and second-guessing his every move! When I came home to find the pieces of the jar in the trash and learned he knocked the jar over on the hard counter, which smashed it, I was really ticked off!Sure, I could have and would have "blended" the detergent before he came home, but I wanted him to SEE for himself the clumpy/chunky detergent. And yes, as he said, "the jar should NEVER be left sitting upright on the counter, where it could be tipped over. It needs to be upside down or on the base."But then, I wouldn't have gone online to your site with the perfect solution! However, 2 days ago he burned up the motor attempting to make turkey spread with smoked turkey he pulled off the left-over carcass. So he bought a whole new Oster blender anyway! Aaaauuughhhh!!Sincerely, Sharon LongIt fits the behive blender makes the rest of my blender look really old it's so clean looking .I just wanted to let people know : IT FITS THE BEEHIVE .There were some of these blenders made in mexico for a nation wide distributer .Anyway they have a code on the bottom that can throw you off the path of seeking out a replacement pitcher. If your beehivE Blender looks like the one in my photos, this product works very well , nice glass nice lid, better than the originals . I recomend you buy new blade , new washer for a good seal. This Jar is the best-designed blender jar I've ever owned. I've owned a lot of blenders. From the 29 dollar el cheapo to the 300 dollar NINJA. WHat makes this jar so great. Well, folks its the wide base. You see if you blend a lot like I do, you know that the product tends to stick to the sides and not slide down into the blade. This sucks major a**. Wider based jars don't allow enough support for the product to stick to the sides, it falls right into the blades. Consequently, your blends go faster. I have also noticed that this jar creates less cavitation, so you can open the lid while blending and toss more items in with less likely hood of splashing your kitchen cabinets all to hell. I have one warning for you, Oster has 2 cloverleaf style jars a tall one and a short one - This review is for the short fat one!. Unlike with women, tall and skinny is not good for a blender jar, happiness is found in short and fat onesIt's nice to see that Oster hasn't forgotten about its decades of blender-making and still designs its newest versions to be compatible with the older ones.I recently bought a small new Oster blender that came with this round-cornered squat 5-cup glass jar design. I often find that I want to make a couple of different things at a time with the blender, so I bought this jar & lid, and the similarly inexpensive 6-piece Oster blender refresh kit which includes a base, blade, and bottom gaskets. Now I've got two complete 5-cup glass jars with lids through blades and bases, both made of top-quality Oster-labeled parts. I can use one to blend up a sauce while I use the other for a main dish or dessert, and they all go in the dishwasher afterward.I also had an older tall-square-plastic-jar Oster blender from years back, and its power base seems to run these new glass jars and blades just fine. If all you have is one of those older tall-square models, pick up this glass jar and play around with it. I bet you'll find it works better in mixing and blending, and is more durable as well.Everything is great with this glass replacement. Except the cover it comes with does not seal very securely when in use. I specifically ordered this glass pitcher because I use a blender in the morning for bulletproof coffee. (Hot liquids particularly leach toxins from plastic pitchers) But due to low viscosity of the coffee mixture, the liquid practically flies out of the edges where cover fits on top. You must be very careful with liquids that are not "thick." Especially hot ones! But I'm still using it daily with heavy pressure on each of the four corners of the lid and a piece of plastic to catch the spillage. Otherwise - it's perfect(!)
